I am a Scottish visual artist working in animation, film and performance.
I’m based in Liverpool and currently operate out of a Liver birds nest, having previously been a member of artist-led studios The Royal Standard, The Well, Case De Brujas and Mello Mello.
I’m a lover of abandoned buildings and even quieter forests, analogue techniques and digital shortcuts, curios, mythos, moss, intersectional feminism and radical non-anthropocentrism.
I have a BA(hons) in Drama from Liverpool John Moores University (2007) and a Masters in Animation from the Royal College of Art (2017)
My creative practice revolves around film making and animation. My video work includes AV design for theatre including Creative Captions, projection mapping, projection installation and live visuals. As a stop motion animator there is hardly a craft I have not had a go at, and so I also create physical artworks, from screen prints and puppets to full scale installation. I’m always excited about finding ways to bring tactile hand made aesthetics into video design.
I have made film and AV work for art organisations including Metal Culture, York Mediale, Abandon Normal Devices, Flatpack Film Festival, Bluecoat, More Music, Heart of Glass, Generator Projects and Speak Percussion (Australia).
I have worked on theatre projects across the UK and online with Dundee Rep, imitating the dog, Hope St LTD, Hera, and Liverpool Everyman among others.
Personal film festival highlights include screening my animated folk/cli-fi horror film Madder Isle at at Frightfest in London and Women in Horror, USA.
Other animated films and music videos have screened at London Short Film Festival in the UK, Stoptrik, Slovenia, Flipbook, Macedonia and Turku, Finland. And a personally prized Special Mention at Celtic Animation Film Festival.
I’m always keen to bring inclusivity and accessibility into work, the workplace and life. Trying to improve on this with each passing day – I know I have a lot to learn and am always trying to listen and lend a hand including offering mentoring, skill sharing and general chats.
